  13. Read this file carefully before installing CoNnect on your
  14. disk. Don't blame me for any inconvenience caused by not
  15. following the given instructions...
  16.  
  17.                                     The Update to CoNnect 2.4x
  18. will be charged with DM 10,- ($8, £6). Even so far registered 
  19. users (not including beta testers) will have to pay this update 
  20. fee before being able to run CoNnect as an unlimited version.
  21. So don't overwrite your old CoNnect until you got the key for
  22. the new version and beware of loading old OPT or SET files with
  23. the new version. You might want to unpack the CONNECT.LZH now
  24. after having read this lines to install the new version.
  25.  
  26. In case you have installed HSMODEM on your system, make sure
  27. to replace the old copy with the new version included in this
  28. distribution. The new HSModem does also support the two additional
  29. SCC serial devices for a common ST which will run at up to 115200 
  30. bps. Ask Harun_Scheutzow@b.maus.de for detailled information.

  33. About CoNnect
  34. -------------

  36. CoNnect is a terminal program for the ATARI ST/STE/TT series,
  37. which will run under (nearly) any resolution and operating
  38. system similar to the ATARI TOS. It allows a very good emulation
  39. of VT52, VT100, VT102/ANSI, VT220 and TEK4014 Terminals. You can use
  40. this emulations on all serial and midi ports of your system
  41. and - if you want - even in parallel. CoNnect was testet on
  42. lots of graphics hardware and it seems to run well with all
  43. of them.

  45. Beeing in VT100, Vt102 or VT220 Mode you can configure CoNnect
  46. to allow TEK 4014 graphics emulation.
  47.  
  48. In addition to its terminal features you can use CoNnect under
  49. MiNT/MultiTOS to run shells and processes in CoNnects windows.

  51. I tried hard to develop CoNnect without bugs and a large number
  52. of beta testers helped me with that task. Nevertheless CoNnect
  53. certainly contains some bugs and I refuse any responsibility
  54. on damage which is caused by the usage or non-usage of CoNnect.

  57. Conversion to English:
  58.  
  59. First rename the File CONNECT.RSC, e.g. to CONNECT.RSX, so that
  60. you won't lose the original resource file. Then change the filename
  61. CONNENG.RSC to CONNECT.RSC. Do the same for the file CONNECT.HLP.

  63. Your distribution might already include this changes.

  66. The Files

  69. In the archive CONN110i.LZH you should have found at least the
  70. following files:

  72. CONNECT.PRG    The progran
  73. CONNECT.RSC    The German resource file
  74. CONNECT.HLP    The German help file
  75. CONNENG.RSC    The English resource file
  76. CONNENG.HLP    The English help file
  77. CONNECT.ASC    The text resource-File
  78. CONNECT.CHR    The vector font for TEK display
  79. CONNECT.OPT    The options file, that, if existing, is loaded
  80.                at CoNnect's start.
  81. CONNECT.CTL    The telephone book with (german) numbers of 
  82.                the so called MausNet.
  83. CONNECT.SCR    A default script which is run after the first
  84.                window of CoNnect has opened.
  85. CONNECT.NUM    A file which containes information on telephone
  86.                fees for dialed numbers. The calculations done
  87.                with this file are so far only valid for Germany.
  88. COSHY.RC       A startup file for CoNnect's intern command shell
  89.                named coshy.

  92. CoNnect is SHAREWARE!
  93. ---------------------

  95. CoNnect runs in shareware status. That means, that you can test
  96. this program and copy it without fees but you'll have to pay
  97. for CoNnect if you use it regularly. If you copy CoNnect be sure
  98. to only copy the original archive file containing all the files
  99. belonging to this software package.

  101. After 30 hours of testing CoNnect behaves less user friendly
  102. (some options will be disabled) because it believes that this 
  103. time of testing is more than enough to find a decision for or 
  104. against CoNnect.
  105.  
  106. If you pay for CoNnect, you'll receive a registration key which
  107. will make a full version out of your demo.
  108.  
  109. And read this urgent warning:

  112. ! Trying to avoid the testing time limit of 30 hours by patching   !
  113. ! CoNnects code may have bad effects on the safety of your data.   !
  114. ! I refuse any liability in case a damage occurs.                  !

  117. After testing this software you have to decide whether
  118. you want continue using CoNnect or not. In the latter case, you
  119. have to do nothing or if you want you may remove CoNnect from
  120. your system.

  122. If you like using CoNnect you have to pay a registration fee of
  123.  
  124.                              DM 60,- + additional DM 10,- for
  125.                                        foreign orders
  126.                                        
  127. (commercial versions for commercial use have do cost 150,-DM see
  128. the online help for further explanation).

  130. Remember that I really want to receive this money and keep in
  131. mind that any institution which will do the transaction can
  132. keep a certain amount for its own benefit.

  134. Together with this money make sure that I'll receive your
  135. full address, your name and user-id which you have entered
  136. to the registration menue.
